Tuesday 21st January
Today, we finished the volcanoes we started last week. We worked in teams to paint our volcanoes, using pictures as a source of information to help us. When we had finished the volcanoes, we took them outside to let them ‘erupt’.

Today, we worked in groups to create our very own times table museum all about the 8 times tables. The children worked together to create their own representation of the 8 times tables. We used numicon, unilink, dienes and a variety of other objects to create our museums. The pictures can be seen below.

Magnetic board games
We finished creating our magnetic board games today. After we had created them, we evaluated them picking out what we liked about our game and what we would do differently if we were to create them again. We hope you enjoy playing with them at home.
Wednesday 11th November
Today, we had our last show of the Christmas Production. The children have worked so hard and produced three magnificent shows. Thank you very much for all the help in getting costumes ready and helping the children to learn their lines and the songs. Below are some pictures from the last show.
Friday 29th November
Please find below the costume list for this year's Christmas Production. If you don't have exactly what is on the list don't worry, anything you think is suitable will be fine. There will be a dress rehearsal on Friday 6th December so if the children could have all their costumes and any props they are bringing from home, that would be great.
Thursday 21st November

Here are the songs for our Christmas production. If you could encourage the children to listen to these songs, it would be very helpful.
Tuesday 5th November
Today, we started the construction of our magnetic board games with a wooden jinx frame. We used hand saws to cut down the wood to the correct size.
Next week, we will start to glue the frame together and piece together our board game.
Monday 4th November
Today, we got to experience the Star Dome! We squeezed into the dome and then sat around the outside, while the instructor took us on a tour around the night sky and what we might see in the sky during the four seasons. We learned a lot about the constellations and why they have their names. It was a wonderful experience and the children got to share a lot of their own knowledge about space at the end.
Wednesday 30th October
Today, we had our very first Music Day of the year. We were visited by Gospel Touch and took part in a workshop. We learned and sung a variety of songs. When we had learned them, we performed the songs in a little ‘X Factor’ style competition. It was great fun spending time with Gospel Touch learning how to perform like a Gospel choir.
After this, we worked through a booklet linked to Black History Month. We learned about influential figures in history, with a main focus on Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. We then listened to songs by black musicians and then appraised them.
It was a very fun Music Day and we’re all looking forward to the next one.
Thursday 17th October
Over the past two days we have been working to create a Stone Age tool. On Wednesday, we spent the afternoon on the computers researching Stone Age tools and the purpose behind them. With this research, we then planned our very own Stone Age tool. The focus of this was to create a tool which would make the life of someone from the Stone Age easier. A lot of us came up with some very interesting ideas.
Today, we chose our final design to take forward and created it. We had a lot of fun creating our Stone Age tools and I was very impressed with the creativity and ingenuity shown by the children in 3ER. This is the first of six STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) activity that will be done this year. I look forward to seeing what the children can create in our future STEAM activities.
Monday 7th October
Today, Year 3 visited St Peter's Church to learn all about the celebration of Harvest. The children heard Bible stories and took part in a range of activities kindly put on by the members of the church. We all planted seeds and have brought the plants back to school to watch them grow in our classrooms. We all had a lovely time!
Tuesday 1st October
Yesterday, we went on our trip to Stamford Park. We were using our orienteering skills to help us navigate around the park. Our task for the trip involved finding key features on a map and giving each feature a symbol. When we were done, we created a key for our map. We had a lot of fun walking around the park and the rain held back, so we stayed nice and dry.
Monday 16th September
We have started our science topic for this half-term (forces and magnets). We had a lot of fun finding out about friction and which surfaces were effective at stopping the toy car from moving. Next week, we’ll be looking at magnetic objects.
Wednesday 11th September
It was lovely to see so many of you at Meet the Teacher last night. We have attached the PowerPoint to this post, so you can access all the information we talked about.
Tuesday 10th September
We introduced everyone to Times Table Rockstars today and had a blast showing year 3 how to use it. Everyone has got their username and password to access the TTRS app or website. The website that the children can use to gain access is;
Hopefully the children will have lots of fun learning their times tables!
