Meet the Governors

If you wish to contact the Board of Governors, please contact the School Office for details.

The Governing Board is made up of governors from a range of backgrounds, who volunteer their time to the support the school. They each bring valuable knowledge and expertise to the role, and often take on specific responsibilities within the governing board. Staff governors, including the head teacher, make up the remainder of the governing board. The governors’ role is vitally important. They monitor and evaluate school performance, provide strategic leadership and ensure that school leaders are held to account too.

In order to find out more about them, our Year 3 children decided to ask our School Governors two of their favourite questions:

• What is your favourite chocolate bar?

• When you were seven, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Nick Davis

Nick currently sits on the Curriculum Committee and the Premises Committee; he is also our Communications Governor too. His youngest daughter is currently in one of our Year 6 classes, having had his older three children already move through the school. When he was seven, he wanted to be an author because he loved books. His favourite chocolate bar is a Bourneville because he prefers plain chocolate.

Martin Dolce

Martin has 2 children in the school.  One in year 5 and one in year 3.  He is the nominated Eco councillor, Maths lead and sits on the premises and communication committee. When he was younger, he wanted to play football for Everton (and still does!) Cadburys Whole Nut is his favourite chocolate bar.

Cathryn Downing

Cathryn is the Head Teacher at the school. She currently sits on the Curriculum Committee, the Finance Committee, the Personnel & General Purposes Committee and the Premises Committee too. When she was younger, she wanted to be a dentist! As a devoted chocoholic, it was very difficult to decide this next question but her favourite chocolate bar is a curly wurly.

Sinead Hesp

Sinead is our Chair of Governors, as well as being a Parent Governor. She currently has daughters in both Year 3 and Year 5. Sinead sits on the Curriculum Committee, the Finance Committee, the Performance Management Committee and the Personnel & General Purposes Committee. When she was seven, she wanted to open a shop in her parents’ garage! Her favourite chocolate bar is a Bounty because she loves coconut.

Debbie Hughes

Debbie currently sits on our Premises Committee. She is a Parent Governor and currently has a child in Year 5, while her son left Year 6 last year. When she was seven, she wanted to work with animals - zookeeper was her firm favourite for a job! Her favourite chocolate bar is a mint chocolate Aero.

Sarah Jones

Sarah is the Deputy Head Teacher at the school; she is a Staff Governor. She currently sits on the Curriculum Committee and the Personnel & General Purposes Committee. When she was seven, she wanted to be either a post woman (as she liked posting letters under the doors of her house) or a teacher; you can see which job role won in the end! Her favourite chocolate bar is a Cadbury’s Wispa.

John Lamb

John currently sits on the Curriculum Committee, the Finance Committee and the Performance Management Committee. He is a Local Authority Governor through Trafford Council. At the age of seven, John wanted to be a policeman! His favourite chocolate bar is a Snickers: he loves the combination of chocolate, caramel and peanuts.

Kate Murdock

Kate currently sits on the Curriculum Committee; she is also our Safeguarding Governor too. She was previously a parent governor, although her youngest child is now at secondary school.
