Year 5JS Star Wars Ballet
It's here! Enjoy our PE dance lesson based on John William's Star Wars soundtrack in our experimentation of different levels, movements and use of space.
21st March, 2017
Next week, Year 5 will observe and discuss the classic explosive experiment of mentos added to coke compared to other fizzy drinks. Just what is it about the combination of this particular liquid, gas and solid that causes such a reaction?

Sweet Science: Soluble or Insoluble?
What happened to a range of solids in 3 different liquids? Did they dissolve, perhaps fizz a little or stubbornly remain insoluble no matter the amount of stirring? Ask Year 5 experts for more details.
Friday 24th February
In line with the new homework policy, homework this week will be different to usual. Each week I will be putting on here what the maths task will be. I will also be sending home the year's spelling list for the children to learn over the rest of the academic year. There will not be a weekly spelling test unless we see that the children's spellings needs more work in accordance with the teacher's discretion in the new policy. Unless they are having an arithmetic sheet, there will not be a homework book anymore.
This week we would like the children to spend 20-30 minutes on Times Tables Rocks Stars. Can they beat their existing score and time per question? When listening to the the children read, please ask questions about the general content and word choices (thinking about reading 'between the lines') as well as about the plot and characters.
Pupils enjoyed conducting their friction experiments by recording the pull force (N) needed to get a brick moving on different surfaces. Rubber treads and thick carpets required quite a bit of muscle (over 30 Newtons!)
Stay tuned for our space suit designs, created with negotiating the perilous forces of the cosmos in mind.
