Welcome to class 4RC 2018-2019
Welcome to class 4RC. We look forward to sharing our busy year with you.
This morning we held our annual egg mobile competition. As part of our DT STEM work we began the design process in school this year. The theme was “Space” and our vehicles were made from recyclable materials. Well done to everyone who took part!
Our current Science topic is “Animals including humans”. We have been learning about different types of teeth and the jobs that they do when we are eating food. We have researched different animals and made models of their jaws. Can you work out if each model is of a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore?
Today we marked World Book Day by coming to school dressed as a character from a story. We took part in parades, and moved classrooms to work with other staff on different activities.
Today we have had fun and got a bit messy making our model digestion systems. We used equipment to represent different parts of our bodies to show what happpens as food makes its way through our digestive systems!
Year 4 enjoyed being Vikings for the day at Tatton Park.
Today Year 4 have been to the new Atlantic Bowling complex for a year group Awesome treat. We had a great time with our friends!
This week Year 4 have been out on lots of trips. On Monday we attended a ‘Rewind to Christmas’ event at Altrincham Baptist Church and enjoyed making tea light holders. On Tuesday we had ‘the best day ever’ at the Chocolate museum in York, where we made chocolate lollies and a drink. On Thursday we are looking forward to going bowling as a treat for being awesome.
Anti-Bullying Week. This week we have been taking part in anti-bullying activities. These have included a virtual reality workshop and making friendship tokens for other children in school who we respect.
November 2018 - Science
Today we began our new Science topic called “States of Matter”. We looked at different materials in class and decided whether they were solids, liquids or gases. We then gave reasons for our ideas based on the properties of each state. In the playground we chose a state to represent in our own way. Can you guess which state we are?
October 2018 - Rainforest cafe
Class 4RC enjoyed creating mocktails and fruit kebabs using products from the rainforest. We invited family members to sample our creations at our rainforest cafe.
In Maths this week we have been continuing our work on place value and completing calculations with Roman numerals. Today we have worked in groups to match Roman numerals to familiar numbers with hundreds, tens and ones.
